Events Diary - January to April 2012.
This page lists all current events and Starnight Observing Sessions being hosted by the Nene Valley Astronomical
Society in the months ahead. Whilst we endevour to keep this list as up to date as possible, occasionally it may
be necessary for us to substitute a speaker or topic at short notice.
For convenience, all meetings at Sudborough are colour coded in blue, all meetings at Chelveston in red, and all
Starnight Observing Sessions at Chelveston in black. If you plan to attend our 'Starnight' Observing Sessions then we
advise you to dress warmly and bring a suitable red light torch (white light ruins the dark adaption of observers as
well as degrading the views through a telescope).
Thursday 5th January
'Astronomy Without A Telescope'. NVAS member Steve Williams offers some advice as to what can be seen in the night sky
with the unaided eye. From annual meteor showers, aurora, noctilucent clouds, to tracking the motions of the planets and satellites.

Special evening for BBC Stargazing LIVE. 'Unveiling The Universe' - a multi-media presentation introducing the solar system, star clusters,
nebulae and galaxies, featuring up to date imagery from various spacecraft and the Hubble Space Telescope. This will be followed
by an observing session in the grounds of the village hall if conditions allow, so please dress warmly and remember a torch.

Special evening for BBC Stargazing LIVE. A look around 'The Winter Night Sky' a tour around this seasons stars, along with advice
on choosing binoculars and a telescope for a novice stargazer. This will be followed by an observing session in the grounds
of the village hall if conditions allow, so please dress warmly and remember a torch.
